Pixar is hard at work on Brave, the company’s first fairy tale film, schedule for released June 22, 2012. The Scotland-based film is also Pixar’s first to star a female protagonist. The lead character will be voiced by Kelly Macdonald, a role previously intended for Reese Witherspoon who had to drop out due to scheduling issues.
Brave tells the story of a princess named Merida who brings turmoil to her kingdom and in an attempt to right her wrong seeks out an old Wise Woman who grants her a wish. Along her journey she will interact with the kingdom’s three lords: Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

Disney/Pixar has revealed that the 2012 sequel formerly known as Monsters, Inc. 2 will be officially titled Monsters University. No word yet on whether or not Billy Crystal and John Goodman have signed on to reprise their roles, but it is expected they will be back.
The sequel is rumored to be a prequel that follows Mike and Sulley’s days at the University of Fear when they were enemies, before they became the best of friends. This certainly ties in with the new title.

Many years ago, Disney (via Circle 7 Studios) began work on Toy Story 3 and Monsters Inc. 2 without the involvement of Pixar.
But when Disney bought Pixar for billions of dollars, development on the sequels was halted and all creative and production duties were returned to Pixar.
Now, years later, we finally get to see what the cancelled Monsters. Inc sequel would have looked like.

Beginning June 24, 2011 a new Toy Story short film titled ‘Toy Story Hawaiian Vacation’ will play before every screening of Pixar’s upcoming sequel Cars 2. This is the first in a series of Toy Story shorts, the second of which will premiere November 23, 2011 before screenings of Disney’s The Muppets.

Did you know Pixar originally wanted Jim Carrey to voice Buzz Lightyear, but could not afford to pay Carrey’s salary? Or that Billy Crystal was offered the chance to voice Buzz Lightyear, but declined?
Another interesting fact is that Tom Hanks recorded his dialog for Woody during the breaks of Sleepless in Seattle and A League of Their Own and not during the breaks of Philadelphia or Forrest Gump because he didn’t think it was right to do comedic roles in between serious roles.
