Pixar’s ‘Toy Story 3’ Debuts At No. 1

According to studio estimates Sunday, Toy Story 3 (as expected) took the No. 1 spot this weekend, raking in $110.3 million in domestic ticket sales.

Toy Story 3 became the third animated film to open with over $100 million in the first weekend. The other two are Shrek the Third with $121.6 million and Shrek 2 with $108 million.

Congrats to director Lee Unkrich and the rest of the film’s incredibly talented crew.

Pixar’s ‘Day & Night’ Teaser Clip

The fine folks over at /film have gotten their hands on a 15 second clip of Pixar’s upcoming short film, Day & Night. The short will screen before Toy Story 3, in theaters June 18, 2010. Click the image below to view the clip.

When Day, a sunny fellow, encounters Night, a stranger of distinctly darker moods, sparks fly! Day and Night are frightened and suspicious of each other at first, and quickly get off on the wrong foot. But as they discover each other’s unique qualities–and come to realize that each of them offers a different window onto the same world–the friendship helps both to gain a new perspective.

Day & Night is Pixar’s latest short which will be shown before screenings of Toy Story 3, beginning June 18, 2010.
