Senior Software Engineer Kelly Ward gives us in-depth demonstration of how the animators created Rapunzel’s hair in Tangled. Ward talks about the challenges of animating Rapunzel’s long hair and making sure that it remains a part of the story. Tangled hits theaters November 24, 2010.
Cars 2 will race into theaters nationwide on June 24, 2011.

Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2†when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.

Toy Story 3 Director Lee Unkrich and screenwriter Michael Arndt join NPR’s Terry Gross for a 37 minute discussion about the Toy Story trilogy, coming to DVD and Blu-ray Disc November 2.
“Ultimately, we wanted to treat this third film like the completion of a saga, as if we had been telling one grand story of the course of the three films,” Unkrich says. “So what we arrived at was that it was vital to have Andy grown up and be at that transition where the toys were no longer being needed or wanted or loved.”

Check out this high-definition clip of Beauty and the Beast and you’ll notice, even with YouTube’s compressed 720p HD video, that the picture has improved greatly with better colors and contrast.
Beauty and the Beast will be available on Blu-ray Disc October 5, 2010.
Newt was to be one of Pixar’s upcoming films, but unfortunately the project was canceled. Pixar has now released some artwork to give fans an idea of what could have been.

Check out the French poster for Disney’s Tangled, formerly known as Rapunzel. Surprisingly, the movie’s title did not change for its French release. It’ll be in theaters across North America beginning November 24, 2010 and in French theaters beginning December 1, 2010.
