Directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez (The Book of Life), Carmelo served as his thesis film from Cal Arts. It won first prize in the Computer Animation category of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences College Awards, and was screened at various festivals around the world, including Kodak’s Emerging Filmmakers Program at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival.
