Interview with The Simpsons’ Carolyn Omine

AWN has a very good interview with ‘Simpsons’ writer Carolyn Omine. It’s definitely worth reading. Here’s one of the many questions she answers:

So, if I am interested in being a writer for animation, what steps would I take?

Carolyn: Get people to read them. Keep improving them. I’m often given scripts to read and I don’t have a lot of times to read scripts by new writers (I can barely keep up with all the reading I have to do for my job), but when I have read someone’s script and I give notes — I am shocked at how often that is met with such resistance.

Check out the interview here.

Adult Swim announces 3 new shows

Adult Swim recently announced three new series — SUPERJAIL, FAT GUY STUCK IN INTERNET and LUCY, THE DAUGHTER OF THE DEVIL.

LUCY, THE DAUGHTER OF THE DEVIL: Lucy is living in San Francisco and dating a great new guy, who might just be the Second Coming. The only problem is that her dad always meddles in her life. And, since he’s Satan, he is using her relationship as an excuse to hasten the apocalypse. This series, created by Loren Bouchard, is set to debut this summer.

FAT GUY STUCK IN INTERNET: When hotshot programmer Ken Gemberling is accidentally sucked into the Internet, he finds himself on a quest of epic proportions. With the evil bounty hunter, Chains, hot on his heels, Gemberling must struggle to unravel the mysteries of this strange, new land and, indeed, his own destiny. Is he the new messiah or just another fat guy stuck in Internet? Created by John Gemberling and Curtis Gwinn, this live-action comedy, originally a cult hit on the Internet, premieres this fall.

SUPERJAIL: Superjail is the most violent prison complex in the universe. The staff and inmates cower under the watchful eye of the mysterious Warden, who presides over them like a sadistic Willy Wonka. The psychedelic landscape of Superjail features dangerous criminals, fantastic creatures, bizarre contraptions and frequent riots. Created by Christy Karacas, Stephen Warbrick and Ben Gruber, SUPERJAIL is set to debut in 2008.

Cartoon Brew’s Open Letter to NBC Universal, Yahoo, AOL, MSN and News Corp

Jerry Beck, from the awesome Cartoon Brew website, wrote a great letter addressed to AOL, MSN, Yahoo, NBC Universal, and News Corp. regarding their recently announced plans to create a “video-rich site” with thousands of hours of full-length programming, movies and clips, representing premium content from at least a dozen networks and two major film studios.

Jerry Beck makes a great point when he mentions that now is the time to release all the classic cartons from Time Warner (parent company of AOL), News Corp., and NBC Universal who own such classics as Looney Tunes, Crusader Rabbit, and Woody Woodpecker.

I highly recommend checking out the letter by clicking here.
