Subaru has created a zoetrope style animation by illustrating the entire commercial frame by frame on the side wall of a test track, and then driving a camera attached to a WRX one foot away from the wall. Check it out below, and also check out the “making of” video after the break.

Nissan has successfully merged high-action 3D animation with marketing, creating an exciting series of commercials for their Juke vehicle. In this video, the second in the series, the Juke makes its way through treacherous terrain and weather, arriving at a massive fire pit. Click here to check out the first commercial. The third and final commercial will premiere in November.

Fox today announced a six episode order for an animated version of the cult classic film Napoleon Dynamite. Fans of the film will be glad to know the entire original cast has signed on as voice talent. The series will follow Napoleon’s misadventures as an awkward high school student alongside his friends in rural Idaho. Jared Hess, Jerusha Hess, and former Simpsons showrunner Mike Scully will write and executive produce.

Back in February I posted a video to a children’s television series named Trunk Train, which had not gone into development at the time. I’m happy to report that the show is now in production. I’d like to congratulate Zé Brandão, Creative Director of Copa Studio, and everyone else involved. With any luck, the show will get picked up for distribution in the United States.

Comedy Central today announced that all-new episodes of Futurama will begin airing Thursday, June 24 at 10 p.m. To celebrate the announcement, Comedy Central released the following still from an upcoming episode:

Variety reports that Lucasfilm Animation is developing a new animated Star Wars TV comedy series. Yes, you read correctly… a Star Wars comedy series. But really, are you surprised? If there is one thing George Lucas loves, it’s milking the Star Wars franchise for every golden drop.
Jennifer Hill, winner of a Daytime Emmy and Gemini Award, whose credits include Nickelodeon’s The Backyardigans, will produce the show, while Todd Grimes, who’s credits include Nickelodeon’s Back at the Barnyard will direct.
Writers will include Brendan Hay, who has written for the show Republicans love to hate, The Daily Show. Also, Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, creators and executive producers of Robot Chicken, will have creative involvement in the series.
No start date or network have been announced.
