‘Tom and Jerry: The Golden Era Anthology (1940–1958)’ Brings Together 114 Shorts on Blu-ray & DVD

Enter StarBreaker, a bold sci-fi animated series born from Latin America’s burgeoning animation scene. Heavily inspired by anime classics like Robotech and Gundam, StarBreaker is a passion project that has defied the odds — developed on a micro-budget and driven by a team that refused to let financial limitations get in the way of powerful storytelling and visual ambition.

After four years of production struggles, StarBreaker is fully completed — a rare feat in indie animation. The series comprises four action-packed 24-minute episodes, featuring dynamic mecha battles, cosmic stakes and a uniquely Latin American narrative voice. Synopsis: In the time of the Aztec empire, tragedy strikes Yohualli Coatl, a young Aztec boy, when his father is murdered by Spanish conquistadors. To warn King Moctezuma and his high priest, Yoka, of imminent danger, Yohualli escapes to Tenochtitlán.

There, he trains in the temple of the bat god Tzinacan with his mentor, developing equipment and weaponry to confront the Spanish invasion and avenge his father’s death. Along the way, he encounters key figures like the fierce Jaguar Woman and the conquistador Hernán Cortés.

Synopsis: The Batman Family has returned to present-day Gotham City after traveling back to the warring states period and saving history from being altered in the previous film, Batman Ninja.

The next day, they witness a startling event — the Japanese island has disappeared, and a giant island called ‘Hinomoto” appears in the sky over Gotham City. Soon, countless Yakuza descend from the sky and attack the people of Gotham City. And, the Justice League has disappeared.

Detecting a strange energy reaction in the sky, Batman heads for Hinomoto to find its underlying cause. There, the Dark Knight finds a world where the Yakuza war with each other, and brutality reigns without honor or humanity.

At the top of the world is the Yakuza League, a group of superpowered individuals, who look suspiciously like the Justice League. The Yakuza League is invading Gotham and, to save the city, Batman and his allies are in for the fight of their lives.

About the comic: Watchmen was created by writer Alan Moore, artist Dave Gibbons and colorist John Higgins. It was published monthly by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987 before being collected in a single-volume edition in 1987.

Watchmen originated from a story proposal Moore submitted to DC featuring superhero characters that the company had acquired from Charlton Comics. As Moore’s proposed story would have left many of the characters unusable for future stories, managing editor Dick Giordano convinced Moore to create original characters instead.

And the rest is history as Watchmen would go on to become one of the most important and best-selling graphic novels of all time.
