‘Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin’ Japanese Trailer, Release Date, Synopsis and Cast List: Anime Based on Nintendo Switch Video Game

Release date: July 6, 2024 on TV Tokyo.

Synopsis: Spoiled harvest goddess Sakuna finds herself banished from her opulent celestial home to an island overrun with demons.

In the untamed wilderness, she must rediscover her birthright as the daughter of a warrior god and harvest goddess by weathering the elements, fighting monsters, and cultivating rice, the source of her power.

By her side in this forbidding place is her guardian Tama and a group of outcast humans. Together, these unlikely companions must join hands to tame both the soil and the demons of Hinoe Island.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin is based on the video game published in 2020 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The series is directed by Masayuki Yoshiwara and written by Jukki Hanada.

‘Rising Impact’ Official Trailer, Release Date, Synopsis and Cast List: Netflix Anime Based on Nakaba Suzuki’s Golf Manga

Season 1 release date: June 22, 2024.
Season 2 release date: August 6, 2024.

Synopsis: Rising Impact, the first serialized manga by Nakaba Suzuki, author of hit series The Seven Deadly Sins, began its run in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998 and now, 25 years later, it is finally being adapted into an anime.

Over the course of two seasons, this series follows the growth of third-grader Gawain Nanaumi as he encounters the sport of golf and competes with his rivals.

Animated by Danski Tang. She specializes in 2D hand-drawn animation, visual art, and experimental documentary. Her work explores memories, the subconscious, cultural indoctrination and body politics.

Sis is singer and multi-instrumentalist Jenny Gillespie Mason. Her new LP Vibhuti releases June 21, 2024. The album is “an emotionally concentrated yet musically roving document of spiritual awakening.”

Director Mamoru Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence celebrates its 20th anniversary with a new 4K restoration and a return to North American theaters beginning June 23, 2024.

Synopsis: In the year 2032, the line between humans and machines has been blurred almost beyond distinction.

A string of murders perpetrated by a prototype android model has drawn the attention of Public Security Section 9, a unit specializing in counter cyber-terrorism.

With none of the victims’ families pressing charges, suspicions arise regarding the nature of the androids and their production company.

In the course of the investigation, the almost entirely cyber-bodied agent Batou, and his still human partner Togusa embark on a journey through a technological dystopia, taking on ferocious Yakuza thugs, devious hackers, government bureaucrats, and corporate criminals to uncover the shocking truth behind the crime.

Synopsis: With school, tennis lessons, swimming lessons, art classes, homework and piano practice, a young boy leads such a regimented life that he has no more time just to be a kid.

Inspired by Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Overdose (1994) pleads for children’s right to rest and leisure.

Short Film Spotlight: The Cocoon

Written, directed and animated by David Shen Miller.

Synopsis: A man finds himself trapped inside a room, his feet muddied from the dirty floor. Unable to get out, he spots a broom nearby and tries to clean the dirty floor. He succeeds, perhaps thinking he will be freed, but then he realizes he has left dirty footprints from working to wipe away the old ones.

Stuck in this paradox, the man attempts to solve the riddle he’s found himself in. He tries to clean his feet; he tries to find a way of walking on the wall instead. But no matter what he does, the room will never become entirely clean. At his lowest point, though, he finds a way to solve his problem — and realizes that perhaps it wasn’t such a problem in the first place.

Short Film Spotlight: Terra Incognita

Intended for mature audiences.

Synopsis: Terra Incognita follows life on a mysterious island, inhabited by immortal beings. These beings lead a pre-civilized life forgotten by time, spending their endless days in hedonistic lethargy.

Through anecdotal vignettes, the film tells the story of what happens when these beings are visited by the outside world, and whether or not there is a greater meaning to it all.

‘Zombies: The Re-Animated Series’ Official Trailer, Release Date, Synopsis, Cast List and Poster

Release date: June 28, 2024 on Disney Channel and the next day on Disney+.

Based on the Zombies movies, available to stream on Disney+, with Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires currently in production.

Synopsis: Zombies: The Re-Animated Series follows the daily lives of Zed, Addison, and the entire Seabrook crew. Using A-spen’s alien time warp technology, Zed and Addison start their senior year all over again, so they can redo it with all their friends.

And this senior year is going to be the best one ever, with the crew hanging out, having fun, and doing everything from saving the town to saving their favorite drink in the cafeteria.
