Warner Home Video has announced that Popeye the Sailor: 1938-1940 Volume Two which includes 31 uncut and remastered shorts will be released on Junw 17, 2008. Extras will include commentaries, Popeye Popumentary featurettes, Out of the Inkwell: The Fleischer Story documentary, the feature-length movie Gulliver’s Travels, vintage audio recordings, radio interviews and more. KOCH Vision announced today that Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers – The Collection: Volume 1 will be released on May 13th. The DVD set will include the first 32 episodes of the 1986 show, created by Robert Mandell.
The series ran for 65 episodes so it’s safe to assume that Vol. 2 (whenever that comes out) will include the final 33 episodes.
Extras include a never-before-seen pilot/demo reel, on-camera interview with Mandell, audio commentary with Mandell and special guests, original music tracks and new “No Guts, No Glory” music video, slideshow of the vintage talking storybook “Tortuna the Outlaw Planet” and a 32-page collectible booklet featuring character profiles and illustrations.

Disney has announced today that they will be releasing three new volumes from the Disney Vault on November 11, 2008. The three new two-disc sets are: Destino, Dr Syn, Alias the Scarecrow and Chronological Donald Vol. 4.
Destino began its life in 1946 and was a collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali and was unfortunately never finished. In 2003, Walt’s nephew, Roy Disney, made the decision to complete the film and bring it to the public.
Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow first aired as three separate episodes on Disney’s weekly TV show and was edited for theatrical releases in England and the U.S. The DVD set includes all three of the original TV episodes plus the theatrical version of the film that was released in England.
Chronological Donald Vol. 4 includes 31 shorts starring Donald Duck that were created between 1951 and 1961.

The first video footage for Batman: Gotham Knight has been released and is available below. The intention of the movie is to bridge the gap between the live action Batman Begins and upcoming The Dark Knight sequel. The DVD is expected in stores before the July release of The Dark Knight.
RottenTomatoes has some exclusive sketches from 101 Dalmatians, coming to DVD on March 4, 2008. The art comes from the personal collection of Marc Davis, the main animator for Cruella. Davis made these sketches to explore the color palette and wardrobe for Cruella.
Turok: Son of Stone, based on the original 1950s comic book series, as well as influences ranging from Frank Miller to Akira Kurosawa, is now available on DVD. It tells a dark and intense re-imagining of Turok’s origin story.
During 20 years in exile, Turok has become a powerful and feared warrior. He now returns home to find his village destroyed and his family slaughtered at the hands of the ruthless tyrant Chichak. On a mission of vengeance, Turok must journey to the Lost Land, a savage place forgotten by time, where primeval beasts hunt all who enter.
On April 15th we will be treated to the DVD release of The Woody Woodpecker and Friends Classic Cartoon Collection: Volume 2, a 3-disc set which includes 75 digitally remastered and completely uncut cartoons that feature Woody and his friends: Chilly Willy, Andy Panda, Buzz Buzzard, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Knothead and Splinter. Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that Beowulf will arrive on DVD and HD DVD on February 26, 2008. Paramount will release both a theatrical and director’s cut of the film which features the voices of Ray Winstone and Angelina Jolie.
The only extra feature on the theatrical cut will be A Hero’s Journey: The Making of Beowulf featurette. The Director’s Cut will include that, along with a Beasts of Burden featurette, a Origins of Beowulf featurette, a Creating the Ultimate Beowulf feaurette, an Art of Beowulf featurette, additional scenes, trailers, and easter eggs.
The HD-DVD release will feature a high definition transfer, along with 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus, and 5.1 Dolby TrueHD tracks. All of the above extra material will be included, along with a Conversation with Robert Zemeckis, further featurettes on the stunts, art design, props and a couple of extra additional scenes.

20th Century FOX has announced that Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest is the first ever DVD to include a digital copy of the movie for iTunes. What this means is you get a second, digital, copy of the movie that you can transfer to your iTunes library and then view on your computer, iPod, iPhone or AppleTV.
“The industry has sold nearly 12 billion DVDs to date and the release of BLUE HARVEST is the first one that allows consumers to move their content to an iPod,” noted Mike Dunn, FOX. “Given Apple’s dominance in the portable entertainment market and our rapidly evolving digital world, a DVD with digital copy for Apple, offers a simple way for consumers to satisfy their growing desire to watch what they want, when they want and, importantly, how and where they want.”
Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest is now available in stores everywhere.
Warner Home Video today released the deluxe edition DVD of Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown, which has been re-mastered and includes a bonus featurette and two extra episodes. The DVD will set you back $19.98, or you can get it from Amazon for $16.99.
The featurette, Unlucky in Love: An Unrequited Love Story, examines the love lives of the Peanuts characters and looks at how creator Charles Schulz’s personal views on love and relationships influenced his work.
Bonus episodes include: You’re in Love, Charlie Brown and It’s Your First Kiss, Charlie Brown.

The cover of DreamWorks Animation’s Bee Movie has been revealed today. The movie will be released as a single-disc DVD, a double-disc “special” edition and on HD DVD on March 11th. Featuring the voices of Jerry Seinfeld, and Renée Zellweger, the movie did reasonably well at the box office; pulling in a domestic total of $125,595,476 and a foreign total of $142,152,051 for a combined $267,747,527 worldwide on a budget of $150,000,000.

New details have been revealed about the upcoming Batman: Gotham Knight animated movie. It turns out that the movie will actually consist of six different shorts, written by different writers and animated by three Japanese anime studios. Writers include comic book writers Brian Azzarello and Greg Rucka and Batman Begins screenwriter David Goyer. The animation studios are Production I.G., Studio 4C and Madhouse whose previous work includes Steamboy, Ghost in the Sheel and Ninja Scroll.
The intention of the movie is to bridge the gap between the live action Batman Begins and upcoming The Dark Knight sequel. According to rumors, Christian Bale will provide his voice to the project. The DVD is expected in stores before the July release of The Dark Knight.

In addition to the three-disc set, Warner will also release a DVD featuring the 15 winning cartoons only. Titled Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Presents: Academy Award Animation Collection 15 Winners.
Characters that make an appearance are Superman, Popeye, Bugs Bunny, Droopy, Tom, Jerry, Speedy Gonzalez and many more. In fact, the DVD features cartoon characters from various franchises, including Merrie Melodies, Hanna-Barbera, MGM, Max Fleischer, Warner Bros. and others.
