‘To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants’ DVD coming July 21

Nickelodeon is set to release the latest SpongeBob SquarePants DVD, To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants, on July 21st. The 1 disc set clocks in at 88 minutes, with eight episodes included, along with some bonus features.

Cult classic ‘Daria’ coming to DVD in 2010

MTV has announced that its cult classic animated series “Daria” is coming to DVD in 2010. The announcement came in the form of a DVD ad found on the recent MTV DVD release of “The State.” For those who don’t remember, Daria was a spinoff of another popular MTV animated show, Beavis and Butt-Head. The show ran for five seasons (1997-2001).

‘Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Collection’ heads to Blu-ray

Hit Entertainment will make its Blu-ray debut with the highly-anticipated release of “Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Collection,” scheduled for release on September 22. The collection will also be available as a 4-disc DVD set.

The disc will include four beloved Wallace & Gromit shorts: A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave, and A Matter of Loaf and Death. All shorts will be presented in 1.33:1 aspect ratio, except for A Matter of Loaf and Death, which will be presented in 1.78:1.

‘The Simpsons: The Complete Twelfth Season’ coming to DVD August 18

The Simpsons are back with The Complete Twelfth Season, arriving on DVD August 18th from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. The longest running animated series in television history, the latest DVD collection features all 21 episodes from the 2000-01 season including Bart’s boy band odyssey in “New Kids on the Blecch” featuring N’Sync and a less-than-ordinary day for Homer, Bart and Lisa in “Trilogy of Error.” The season also features many other guest stars including Drew Barrymore, Edward Norton, Justin Timberlake, Stephen King, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Roger Daltry and many more.

All episodes are compiled on four discs (full frame, aspect ratio 1.33:1). Each episode is presented with English 5.1 Dolby Surround, Spanish and French Stereo and English, French and Spanish subtitles. Check out the cover art along with a breakdown of each disc, after the break.

‘SUPERMAN/BATMAN: Public Enemies’ coming to DVD, Blu-ray

The world’s greatest Super Heroes become America’s most wanted criminals — and are hunted by friends and foes alike — in SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES, the sixth entry in the popular DVD series of DC Universe Animated Original PG-13 Movies. A co-production of Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, the full-length animated film will be distributed by Warner Home Video on September 29, 2009. SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES will be available as a Special Edition 2-disc version on DVD and Blu-Ray, as well as single disc DVD and On Demand.

In the film, United States President Lex Luthor uses the oncoming trajectory of a Kryptonite asteroid to frame Superman and declare a $1 billion bounty on the heads of the Man of Steel and his “partner in crime,” Batman. Heroes and villains alike launch a relentless pursuit of Superman and Batman, who must unite — and recruit help — to stave off the onslaught, stop the asteroid, and uncover Luthor’s devious plot to take command of far more than North America.

SUPERMAN/BATMAN: PUBLIC ENEMIES – 2 Disc Special Edition version will have more than three hours of bonus features, including:

‘Green Lantern: First Flight’ Q&A with Executive Producer Bruce Timm

Executive producer Bruce Timm puts the spotlight on character designer Jose Lopez and screenwriter Alan Burnett for their creations in “Green Lantern: First Flight,” the next entry in the series of DC Universe animated original PG-13 movies from Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation.

Warner Home Video will distribute the film – as a special edition 2-disc DVD, a Blu-Ray edition, as well as single disc DVD – on July 28, 2009. The movie will also be available OnDemand and Pay-Per-View as well as available for download day and date, July 28, 2009.

‘Green Lantern: First Flight’ Q&A with Casting Director Andrea Romano

Green Lantern: First Flight, an all-new DC Universe animated original movie, is set for release July 28, 2009 by Warner Home Video.

For Green Lantern: First Flight, Andrea Romano has brought together a pair of voiceover novices in the lead roles, along with assorted veterans of feature film and primetime television, including an 82-year-old character actor whose screen appearances date back to Mighty Joe Young.

Romano has worked on a variety of animated shows including Batman: The Animated Series, Animaniacs, The Boondocks and The Smurfs.

Romano found a few moments to discuss the casting and performances of the voices within Green Lantern: First Flight.

‘Green Lantern: First Flight’ Q&A with Actor Michael Madsen

Movie tough guy Michael Madsen provides the voice of Kilowog, the enforcer with a heart, in Green Lantern: First Flight, the next DC Universe animated original PG-13 movie coming to DVD and Blu-ray on July 28, 2009. It will also be available OnDemand and Pay-Per-View as well as a digital download on the same date.

Madsen offered some surprising, honest answers following his recording for Green Lantern: First Flight, providing his thoughts and recollections of acting, the oddities of fan perceptions, sibling rivalries, pumping gas for the stars, and his cleanest definition of Kilowog’s favorite word, “poozer.”

Four-time Emmy Award winner Alan Burnett takes on the role of screenwriter for Green Lantern: First Flight, the next DC Universe animated original PG-13 movie coming to DVD on July 28, 2009.

Burnett, the primary story editor for Warner Bros. Animation, took a little time to offer his views on his humbling beginnings in comics, the influences of Alfred Hitchcock and Woody Allen, and the simple one-line pitch behind the screenplay for the first-ever feature length Green Lantern film.
