Director’s note:Another World is a dark fairy tale, reflecting the harshness of our world and the hidden struggles we face. In an age marked by pain and division, I hope this film offers a moment of connection for those who feel broken, and perhaps a bit of relief from the solitude that often defines our lives.

“To me, the characters in this story feel profoundly real. When faced with truths too heavy to bear, they falter. They grieve, they rage — and they cling to the unresolved questions in their hearts. That stubbornness, that unwillingness to let go, has the power to destroy them… but it also fuels their strength. It becomes the fire that lights their path forward, even in darkness.

“At its heart, Another World is about belief. A belief that compassion, no matter how small, can bridge generations and heal even the deepest scars. As the film reminds us: Trust in timing. Trust in yourselves.

“I invite audiences to join us on this 110-minute journey. If you leave the theater with just a little more warmth in your heart, then this story has done its job.”

Screenwriter’s note: “In a world that is so full of anger and despair, worsened by the divisive opinions and hateful comments that we are relentlessly exposed to on social media, rage spreads more virally than all other emotions.

“As a storyteller, I strive to use the animation medium to help relieve the angst that audiences feel within, and hopefully turn their anger into change. Thanks Universe, for giving me a chance to read “Sennenki,” a Japanese novel that has helped to nurture the seed of understanding on regrets, self-forgiveness and redemption.

“I always ask: How long does it take for someone to let go of their anger, hatred, and disgust not just toward others, but toward themselves? Another World tells the story of a spirit who tries to save a little girl who has committed an unforgivable sin, triggering a redemption journey over 1,000 years. I hope this millenia journey can give us an answer. If this life is only one among those in an infinite river of reincarnations and if a life with an unresolved “knot” can pass through different incarnations, how will you choose to live this life?”
