Table read of controversial Family Guy episode

FOX recently declined to air an abortion episode of Family Guy (originally scheduled to air in the upcoming season) due to the sensitive subject matter. It will, however, be included on the DVD box-set. Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, decided to then perform the episode live, complete with orchestral backing. The complete live table read will also be included on the DVD. Below you can view two preview clips, along with an interview with MacFarlane.

Family Guy nabs Best Comedy Emmy nomination

Seth MacFarlane has something to be happy about today as his show, Family Guy, has been nominated in the Best Comedy category for the 61st annual Emmys. This is the first time in 50 years that an animated series has been nominated in that category. Family Guy will go up against Entourage, Flight of the Conchords, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, 30 Rock and Weeds.

In the Outstanding Animated Program (for programming less than one hour), the nominees are:
American Dad’s “Sixteen-Hundred Candles”
Robot Chicken’s “Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II”

The Simpsons’ “Gone Maggie Gone.”

Sunday, September 27 is the day to mark on your calendar if you’re a fan of FOX’s Sunday Animation Domination block of programming. Premiering at 8:00PM is The Simpsons, followed by the series premiere of Family Guy spinoff, The Cleveland Show. At 9:00PM we get Family Guy, followed by American Dad.
