Brad Bird to direct live-action 1906 with Warner Bros and Pixar
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Brad Bird, director of The Incredibles and Ratatouille, has signed on to make his live-action feature directorial debut with “1906,” a co-production between Warner Bros. and Disney/Pixar. Since the film will be live-action, I think its safe to assume that Pixar will be in charge of all the special effects in the movie. And considering that the movie is set during the great 1906 Earthquake in San Francisco, I think there will be a large amount of special effects shots.
The story centers on a college student who begins to investigate the murder of his father, uncovering a web of deceit that has left the city vulnerable to the sort of fire that breaks out when the Great Earthquake of 1906 hits San Francisco.
