Marjane Satrapi – Persepolis interview

RottenTomatoes.com has an interview with Marjane Satrapi (director) on Persepolis with exclusive clips and photos.

Here’s one of the questions she was asked:

RottenTomatoes: Persepolis and Ratatouille are the favorites for being nominated and winning the Animation Oscar and it’s interesting that they’re both, in one way or another, connected to French culture. Have you seen Ratatouille?

Marjane: Yes, it’s a nice one. I really like it a lot. I watched it with two kids and they were so excited. I was more excited by their excitement.

I don’t know, if we could have the Oscar for Best Animation and Best Foreign, that’d be a record. Yes! Why not? I worked for it. [Laughs.] I’d be a liar if I said I don’t care. I do care. I hope. At the same time, this is just a competition. It’s surreal. If it doesn’t come, it doesn’t come. But I hope it will. [Laughs.]

Second WALL-E trailer

A new trailer for Pixar’s latest movie, WALL-E, has been released. You can check it out below. If you prefer to watch the trailer on the big screen, you can do so by going to see National Treasure: Book of Secrets, which opens this Friday. But honestly, why would you?

Alvin and the Chipmunks debut at #2

While it may not have been enough to take down Will Smith’s I AM LEGEND, the $44.3 million that the Chipmunks raked in was enough for the #2 spot.

Heck, #2 isn’t that bad, considering it went up against one of the most anticipated movies of the year and Will Smith movies are always huge blockbusters that are all but guaranteed the #1 spot. In case you’re wondering if the Chipmunks were close to the #1 spot–they weren’t. I AM LEGEND took in $77.2 million dollars which made it the best December opening ever! The two films combined to give Hollywood a year-end surge after a disappointing fall season.
